Welcome to the Essential Barista Course. Over the space of three days we will go over the basic principles of espresso coffee and focus on developing the essential barista skill set. This course highlights the core elements of making excellent espresso coffee.
Each day is split into two, two-hour segments: Morning session and afternoon session, a total of 4 hours of class time each day, with a lunch break between sessions.
: Covers the importance of grasping the basics concepts.
session is dedicated to understanding and practicing grind, tamping and extraction. Learning to season and dial in the grind. Understand the importance of dose, yield and time and of course to practice, practice, practice.
session focuses on learning the technique of how to steam milk correctly and produce desirable microform. Breaking down the steps of texturing, spinning and heat management into easy to follow steps and then apply pouring technique to improve the appearance and taste of coffee.
: Coffee history and machine maintenance followed by practical application of alternative milks.
session. The first hour of the morning is focusing on coffee history and understanding coffee origins and blends in greater depth. Then the second hour is focused on machine maintenance, understanding the equipment and teaching students how to trouble shoot common espresso machine issues.
session is dedicated to alternative milks and understanding the differences between them and how to apply that to making better coffee. Then after that we focus on making coffee and practicing.
: Mock Cafe
Both sessions are devoted to developing and growing your current abilities to that of an experienced barista. We focus on producing coffee in a similar setting to that of a café; we apply a time limit per order, practice making multiple orders, peer review results and compare expectations to results and learn to multitask.
We have a limited number of spaces in this course, so advance booking is advised. Payment must be finalised prior to course date, as complete payment is to secure your spot in the course. A Cancellation fee will apply.
At the completion of this course, you will be provided with an Essential Barista Course certificate.
