This course is designed as a hands-on, practical introduction to making espresso coffee. It is ideal for an aspiring barista, with little to no industry experience, wanting to making a great cup of coffee in a professional setting.

Over two and a half hours, you will walk through the preparation of high quality espresso, practice steaming milk, discover the difference between common beverages and learn how to properly care for an espresso machine.

This class is a prerequisite if you have no experience and want to continue on to do The Essential Barista Course

  • 2 1/2 hours
  • $120.00
  • Identifying correct espresso extraction
  • Adjusting grind to achieve high quality espresso
  • Correct dosing, distribution and tamping technique
  • Milk texturizing for basic beverages
  • Pouring techniques for flat whites and cappuccinos
  • Proper machine and grinder care.

For those wanting to start work as a barista, we recommend the follow up course, The Essential Barista Course. This two day course offers lots more practice with plenty of new skills and a bit of background knowledge about coffee too. This will help to develop the skills to make multiple coffees in a short period of time and become confident behind the machine.

Due to the small class sizes and limited places, payment is required at the time of booking and a cancellation fee may apply.
