Meet the Team

Jeff
Growing up in Lower Hutt, Jeff had a thirst for experiencing the world outside New Zealand.  He left NZ for Australia in his late teens where he discovered and developed a taste for good coffee.  Throughout his early working career he had a passion for good coffee.

Moving to Vancouver in the late 80's at a time when the coffee culture there had seen tremendous growth, Jeff knew that he had found his 'calling'.  Investing in a coffee roaster and intensive training in the U.S., he was ready to put all that he learned into creating his own special blends.

Jeff has been roasting in New Zealand since 1993 and has since travelled the world researching and perfecting his craft.  He enjoys all aspects of the coffee business from helping a retail customer find a blend that they like to assisting a cafe fine tune their skills to increase business.

Jeff roasts all bean types separately to highlight each origin's natural characteristics.  He still keeps a hand in roasting and ensuring quality and consistency.  His interest in Fair Trade Organic coffee has grown in the past few years and we now have 3 different blends to choose from.  He has won awards in New Zealand for the last 2 years for his espresso blends.

Carrie
With a passion for knowledge of the coffee industry, Carrie's goal is to educate coffee lovers, answering a wide range of questions during the day and assisting customers in finding a coffee (or blend) that is right for them.  Understanding that not everyone's taste is the same, it is important to find a coffee that individuals enjoy.

Carrie is a very active, outdoors individual.  Learning to ski at a young age is the norm for most who live in Vancouver, but she also pursued interests in running, orienteering and swimming.  When presented with the opportunity to move to New Zealand (more specifically Tauranga) with her young family to start a 'coffee business', the lifestyle and climate more than appealed.
She has enjoyed numerous triathlons, swims around the mount regularly in the summer with a group and has cycled around Taupo (twice solo and 3 times with a relay team).

Josie
As part of the family, Josie has been working in the factory during holidays since she was in intermediate school.  She has learned to roast coffee and has a good eye for it but prefers serving customers who come to purchase their coffeee supply and is perfecting her espresso making skills for take-away coffee customers.  Recently she has taken on more administrative duties, learning more about the running of the business.
